Three shot, one fatally, in Charlemont
THREE men were shot, one fatally, by gunmen at Charlemont Housing Scheme, Linstead, St Catherine on Thursday.
Leonard Miller, 27, died in the shooting, and the injured were said to be two masons, aged 27 and 50, both of St Catherine.
According to the police, at about 2:20 pm the three were at a carwash, which is under construction, when they were approached by two men armed with handguns. The gunmen immediately opened fire hitting them several times before escaping.
The injured men were taken to hospital where Miller was pronounced dead and the others admitted in serious condition.
Businessman disarms gunman
A .357 Magnum revolver was wrested from a gunman by a businessman during an attempted robbery at his home in Plantation Heights, St Andrew, on Thursday.
The businessman and a family member were injured in the incident.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), at about 8:00 am the businessman and a family member were at home when two men, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife, entered through an open door and demanded money.
“The gunman held onto the businessman and during a struggle the businessman was shot. He, however, managed to relieve the gunman of the firearm and fired several shots at him. The two hoodlums ran from the premises and made good their escape,” said the CCN.
The businessman and the family member who received knife wounds were taken to a medical facility where the family member was treated and released. The businessman was admitted in stable condition.
The firearm, a Colt .357 Magnum revolver, serial # J63379, with two rounds, was handed over to the Duhaney Park police who are investigating.
Two guns seized in Bull Bay
TWO firearms were seized during an operation in Bull Bay, St Andrew, Thursday night. No one was arrested in connection with the seizures.
The CCN said that between 5:40 pm and 7:10 pm, an operation was carried out in the Bull Bay area. During the operation, five men were seen in an area known as Sugar Land. On the approach of the police, the men ran and made good their escape. A search was carried out and two guns, a 9mm pistol, serial # 1087473 with seven rounds, and a homemade shotgun were seized.
Man stabbed to death in downtown Kingston
A man known only as “Tippy”, believed to be about 31 years old, was attacked and stabbed to death by a man at North Parade in downtown Kingston on Thursday.
The CCN said that at about 12:30 pm Tippy was at the bus terminal at North Parade when he was approached by a man, and following a brief conversation the man pulled a knife and stabbed him several times.
He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Kingston Central CIB, which is investigating, said it was seeking a man known only as “Pops” from Chancery Lane for questioning in connection with the killing.
