Some of the wanted

IN March 2004, the police reported that there were 150 dangerous criminals on the loose. Lucius Thomas, then the crime chief, now promoted to police commissioner, cited two reasons for so many men being on the run: a sophisticated criminal network whose resources far outstripped the constabulary’s; and unwillingness by citizens to provide the police with information.

The Constabulary Communication Network also said then that some of the men had been wanted for more than five years, while others were convicts who had escaped prison.

However, the information unit was unable to provide a similar synopsis when asked last week, saying they were awaiting an update from the National Intelligence Bureau.

The Sunday Observer was able to put together a partial list of wanted men, however, by calling around to the area and parish police divisions. Only some of the divisions responded with information, as outlined below.

The Half Way Tree police have the following names on its list:

. Marvin Sommers also called ‘Jerry Max’ of Jungle 12 in August Town. Police say Sommers absconded bail while facing the court on a charge of arson. Sommers is also wanted for a number of shootings in August Town.

Police say he played a central role in the gang feud which raged between the Jungle 12 gang and gangs from other sections of August Town.

. Ryan Richards, 19, alleged leader of the Scotland Heights gang, based in eastern St Andrew – wanted for murder, shooting and shooting with intent;

. Steve Halliman, known as ‘Mophead’, leader of the Bottom Road gang, from Jacks Hill Village, in St Andrew – wanted for murder and arson.

The Area Five Police are also hunting:

. Donovan ‘Bulbie’ Bennett – for murder, kidnapping and extortion. Bennett is the alleged leader of the Klansman gang;

. A man known as ‘City Puss’. Police say ‘City Puss’ is wanted for a number of murders in the Spanish Town area and is suspected to be the number one hit man in the Klansman gang; and

. A man known only as ‘Kai Kai’ – for murder and shooting. Police say ‘Kai Kai’ is also a leading member of the Klansman gang and is known to frequent De La Vega City, Lakes Pen and other areas.

The police in Clarendon say they are looking for:

. Dean Wright for shooting and robbery. Police say Wright is known to frequent May Pen and Hayes in the parish.

The Kingston East police are hunting:

. Alonza ‘Ziggy’ Litchmore of McIntyre Villa Housing Scheme;

. Trevor ‘Breads’ Campbell of Bray Street;

. Delano ‘Delly Bop’ Waite, 26, of Black Street;

. Junior Bines, 20, of Hardie Street; and

. Donovan Clarke, 25, of Homestead Road.

Police say the men are wanted for murders and shootings in the Dunkirk area of Kingston since the start of the year.

Hanover is seeking:

. Glenroy Thomas, also called ‘Bud’ and ‘Dwight’ for double murder, robbery and shooting;

. Nigel Whyte for murder;

. Errol ‘Blacka’ Mignott for murder;

. Leopold ‘Ganja Baby’ Buchanan for shooting and wounding; and

. Denzil McKenzie, also called ‘Anthony’ and ‘Ghost’ for robbery and shooting.

Trelawny has on its wanted list:

. Loxley Plumber for carnal abuse;

. Denmark Clarke for wounding;

. Venroy Virgo for wounding;

. a man known only as ‘Thriston’ for murder; and

. Everton Riley, also wanted for murder.

Some on St James’ list include:

. Christopher Marshall of Irwin Heights for rape;

. Jeffery Tharoudeen of Catherine Mount for murder;

. Roy ‘Blood’ Barrett for murder;

. Bouston Grubb of Salt Spring for murder;

. a man known only as ‘Ninja’ for murder;

. Robert ‘Ringo’ Lewis for murder; and

. Jermaine Piggott of Hopeton for carnal abuse.
