Alleged American fugitive held in Negril
An American citizen who allegedly fled his country’s justice system is scheduled to appear in the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court on October 4 for breaching the Immigration Act.
The man, Ronald Lee Morgan, a 39 year-old computer technician of Danville PA, Virginia and who was staying at Sheffield, Westmoreland, was picked up in Negril on Monday by members of the police’s Fugitive Apprehension Team and personnel from the Westmoreland Police Division.
The police said Morgan’s documents were checked and it was discovered that he had overstayed his time.
It was subsequently discovered that he was awaiting trial in Greensborough County, North Corolina, for possession with intent to distribute and sell cocaine when he fled to Jamaica. He was convicted in absentia on July 17, 1993.
