Yesterday, the Guys Hill police said they were investigating a case of suspected suicide committed by 62-year-old Fitzroy Anderson at his home in Guys Hill district, St Catherine.
The police said that at around 8:00 am on Friday, a neighbour found Anderson’s body hanging by a piece of clothing from a tree behind his house. The police were called and they removed the body to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
Also on Friday, five men were arrested and charged with breaches of the Firearms Act following the seizure of two illegal firearms in Burnt Savannah, St Elizabeth.
Police reported that at about 12:15 am, members of the St Elizabeth Flying Squad were on patrol in the Burnt Savannah area when a car with five male passengers was stopped and searched. Two pistols were allegedly found in the car.
The passengers were arrested and charged. Their identities are being withheld, as they are to face identification parades this week for various crimes committed in the parish.
St Elizabeth was also the scene of a fatal crash which claimed the life of 34-year-old Neville Reid of Ginger Hill district in St Thomas. Reid died on Friday at the Kingston Public Hospital from injuries he sustained in the motor vehicle accident Thursday in Santa Cruz, the St Elizabeth police said.
