CHESLAN Simpson otherwise called ‘Youth’, 61, of Paisley Drive in May Pen, Clarendon died Saturday after he was hit by a stray bullet fired by robbers.

The Constabulary Communication Network’s (CCN) liaison officer for Clarendon reported that at about 8:00 pm Saturday four men armed with guns entered a bar at Evans Avenue in the town. They then held up and robbed customers and the proprietor of cash, cell phones and other items. On leaving the establishment the gunmen fired several shots indiscriminately, one of which hit Simpson who was driving in the area at the time. He was taken to the May Pen Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Man gunned down at Hopefield Avenue home

FRANKLYN Swaby, 21, was killed by gunmen at Hopefield Avenue in Kingston 6 yesterday morning.

The CCN’s metro officer said that at about 5:00 am residents heard explosions in the area and went to investigate.

Swaby’s body with gunshot wounds was subsequently found at his doorstep. The police were alerted and the body was removed to the morgue.

BSI probing fatal August Town police shooting

The police’s Bureau of Special Investigation has begun a probe into the fatal shooting of a man at August Town, Kingston 7, yesterday morning by the police.

The dead man has been identified as Trevor Walker, otherwise called “Cudjoe Pa”, 45, of August Town Road.

According to the CCN, at about 11:00 am a police party was on patrol in a section of August Town, known as African Gardens, when three men were seen “acting suspiciously”. On the approach of the lawmen, the gunmen opened fire at them, which was returned by the police.

“As the lawmen combed the area, Walker, who was among the group of gunmen, again engaged the police in a shoot-out when he was shot. A Taurus 9mm pistol with 19 rounds of ammunition was taken from him. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead,” said a CCN report.

Two guns seized in Kingston 11

THE St Andrew South Police said they seized two guns and ammunition at Walkers Crescent, Kingston 11, on Saturday, and arrested two men in connection with the seizures.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are Troy Graham, otherwise called “Big Bully”, 25, of Mall Road and Patrick Dean, 35, of McKoy Terrace, both in Kingston 11.

The CCN’s metro officer said that at about 6:30 am members of a police party went to Walkers Crescent where a goods truck was being robbed.

“On the arrival of the lawmen Graham and Dean, who were among the group of men robbing the truck, were apprehended. Two guns, a Mack 11, with serial number erased, with 23 rounds; and a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver with three cartridges were seized,” said the CCN.
