162 cops promoted
Commissioner Lucius Thomas yesterday announced the promotion of 162 members of the constabulary and said they had the skills to help reform the police force.
“They have shown the leadership, the skills and have the attributes that are required to. turn around this organisation,” Thomas said at a news conference at Police Officers’ Club in Kingston shortly after handing out the promotions.
The 162 promotions include:
. 92 sergeants made inspectors;
. 41 inspectors and assistant superintendents promoted to deputy superintendents;
. 20 deputy superintendents now superintendents; and
. 9 superintendents promoted to senior superintendents.
Among the new senior superintendents are Rosie McDonald-Barker, George Quallo, Ray Palmer, Devon Watkiss, Gervis Taylor, Egbert Nelson, Carlton Wilson, A E Edwards, and D Cochrane.
Derrick ‘Cowboy’ Knight, Delroy Hewitt, and Nevral Smith are the more prominent deputy superintendents made superintendents, while Neville Knight and Ian Mowatt head the list of inspectors promoted to deputy superintendents.
Among the sergeants made inspectors are Nadine Grant- Brown, Michael Cunningham and Steve Brown.
