Jamaican-German Society elects new executive
MAJOR Owen Miller was elected president of the Jamaican-German Society Monday, at the organisation’s 51st annual general meeting, replacing Doreen O’Connor who held the position for three years.
Other executive members include first vice-president Holger Waehling, second VP Cecile Clayton, treasurer Andreas Schorlemmer, and secretary Marlene Schorlemmer.
O’Connor will serve as ex officio member to the executive committee.
German ambassador Volker Schlegel, guest speaker at the AGM, urged the society to concentrate on lifting the profile of the German community in Jamaica, pledging to work with the society in this regard, said a release announcing the new executive.
Schlegel was posted in Kingston last June.
