Portland’s most wanted man captured
PORT ANTONIO, Portland – Charlie Junior, 53, a six-foot, bearded farmer from Milbank, and Portland’s most wanted man was captured about 3:00 pm Friday in his community by the police.
Junior, who had previously evaded numerous dragnets by the Portland and St Thomas police, is to appear in court Monday on charges of rape, abduction, murder, and illegal procession of firearm and ammunition.
He has been on the run for some 20 years, easily disappearing into the Blue Mountains, where he farms, each time the police picked up his trail.
The police allege that from his home in the hills, he uses powerful binoculars to spy on young women, whom he abducts, rapes and releases.
Junior will appear in the Port Antonio Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The Portland police say when they ran into him Friday, he surrendered without any resistance.
They are still carrying out investigations, and the St Thomas police are also to question Junior in relation to several crimes in that parish.
