107 gallons of diesel oil, crack cocaine and ganja seized in raid
CLARKS TOWN, Trelawny – Two early morning police raids in this farming community yesterday morning led to the seizure of 107 gallons of diesel oil, 25 pieces of crack cocaine and a portion of ganja.
Police said that they later arrested:
. Anthony Linton and Fabian Martin, both 19 year-old labourers of Clarks Town, for possession of and dealing in crack cocaine; while
. Joel Linton, a 57 year-old plumber;
. Aelite Linton, 20, a cosmetologist; and
. Steve Thomas, a 38 year-old electrician, were charged with possession of and dealing in ganja during the raid, code-named ‘Operation Alpha’.
Operation Alpha, which concentrates on towns and communities which have been plagued with incidents of crime and disorder, was launched in the police Area One region last October.
During the first raid yesterday in a section of the community popularly called “Top Town”, a tenement yard was searched and six plastic and metal containers containing 107 gallons of diesel fuel were allegedly found. No arrests were made.
Police said in the second raid a house owned by Joel Linton, 57, was searched and a quarter pound of ganja was allegedly found under a bed.
In another room, occupied by Anthony Linton and Fabian Martin both 19-year-old labourers, 25 pieces of solid substance resembling crack cocaine were found, according to the police.
Aelite Linton and Thomas were charged after two plastic bags with ganja were allegedly found in the room they occupied.
Earlier this week, three stolen cars were recovered in the Freeman’s Hall community in the southern part of the parish during a raid conducted by Operation Alpha.
Meanwhile, eight wanted men were detained during police operations in Trelawny last week.
The men, whose names are being withheld by the police pending identification parades, were taken into custody during raids carried out in several sections of the parish.
According to the police’s information officer for Trelawny, Corporal Patrick Chin, the nine are facing charges of murder, breaches of the firearms act and house breaking committed in Trelawny and other parishes.
