Three killed in Priory road accident
PRIORY, St Ann – Three people, including two teenagers, were killed yesterday in an early morning road accident along the Seville main road in Priory, St Ann.
The dead were identified as:
. Che Blackwood, 19, of Content Gardens, Ocho Rios;
. Jerome Cohen, 20, of Exchange, Ocho Rios; and
. Danielle Richards, 16, a resident of London, England.
Blackwood and Cohen were involved in the entertainment business, while Danielle was said to be vacationing in the island.
A 29 year-old woman, also from London, England, was injured in the accident and was admitted to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital in serious but stable condition. Police said she received head injuries in the accident. Police did not release her name.
According to the police, at approximately 2:00 yesterday morning, a grey Honda Civic motor car, registered 3555 EH, driven by Blackwood and with the other three persons on board, was travelling westward when on reaching the vicinity of Priory beach the driver lost control of the car while in the process of overtaking another vehicle.
The car, the police said, spun around and fell into a ditch before slamming into an embankment.
All four persons were taken to the St Ann’s Bay hospital where three were pronounced dead.
The accident occurred along a section of the road which was recently paved as part of the ongoing north coast highway improvement project.
Since the start of the year, there have been several accidents along the newly-paved roadway between St Ann’s Bay and Runaway Bay.
