Man held for questioning in killing of ‘Chen Chen’
THE May Pen police have held a man for questioning for Sunday night’s murder of Bashington “Chen Chen” Douglas at his home in Pennants, Clarendon.
He died after receiving a single bullet to the head.
“We do have a man that will be questioned, but we are making sure that when we do his lawyer is present,” said Superintendent Derrick “Cowboy” Knight, the commander of the Clarendon police.
He, however, declined to give information about the man being questioned.
Douglas, who was accused of running an extortion racket that targeted the AUSJAM gold mine in Pennants, was the man whom members of the Reneto Adams-led Crime Management Unit went in search of when four people, including two women, were shot dead in Crawle.
The shooting landed Adams and his men in court, which all but ended the career of a colourful police officer. They were all charged with murder of the four, but in the end Adams and his men were acquitted of all charges.
