A gift of computers for five schools
FIVE schools in St Elizabeth were outfitted with 60 refurbished computers and audiovisual equipment, sourced for them by the Bull Savannah Past Students Association (BSPSA).
The gifts to Hampton High, Munro College, Ballards Valley Primary, Top Hill Primary and Bull Savannah Primary were financed from a $3.3 million fund created by the association from fundraising proceeds, and used to finance various projects for the Bull Savannah school.
“Some of the funds were used to build and equip a computer laboratory and library (and) we published a history of the school,” said BSPSA president Dr Pearl Dunkley, who handed over the equipment to the schools at a ceremony held recently on the school grounds.
“Today, we are handing over Compaq computers, monitors and peripherals.”
The Pentium 3 computers were refurbished by BAE Systems, a company out of the US, for $450,000.
The St Ann Bauxite Company helped ship the equipment to Jamaica.
