JLP team moves into St James, Hanover
MONTEGO BAY, St James – The Opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) yesterday moved into the third of its five-day islandwide tour, with largely incident-free visits through Hopewell and Sandy Bay in Hanover.
The lengthy convoy of motor vehicles, which rolled out of Reading St James in the morning was joined by scores of party supporters attired in green shirts.
Opposition Leader Bruce Golding, and Dr Horace Chang, the deputy leader in charge of Area Council Four, rode in the back of a pick-up truck which formed a part of the tour which stopped briefly in Hanover’s Point community after a party supporter was thrown from his motorcycle.
The pick-up truck transporting Golding and Chang turned back to ascertain the condition of the biker and only proceeded when it was ascertained that he had only incurred minor injuries.
Despite a downpour of rain, the touring party stopped in Lucea, where Donovan Hamilton was introduced as the JLP candidate for Western Hanover in the next general election which becomes constitutionally due next year. Hamilton will contest the seat against the PNP’s Ian Hayes, a former vice-chairman of Generation 2000, the young professional arm of the JLP.
