Westmoreland’s most wanted nabbed
HARTFORD, Westmoreland – The police on Thursday apprehended 22-year-old Marvin ‘Jodie’ Stewart, one of Montego Bay’s most wanted men, during an operation in Westmoreland’s Hartford district.
Stewart, who police say is a member of the infamous Stone Crusher gang, had been wanted for several cases of shooting and the March 2004 murder of Detective Constable Levine Garnett.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network’s liaison officer for Westmoreland, a 21-year-old woman who was found with Stewart at a residence, was also taken into custody during the operation which was carried out at approximately 1:30 pm.
Retaliation suspected in fisherman’s murder
BACHELOR’s HALL, Hanover – The police are theorising that the death of 28-year-old fisherman Donovon Robinson, who was shot in Bachelor’s Hall on Wednesday night, may have been in retaliation for the earlier fatal stabbing of another man in Hanover’s Brissett district.
The police say that at about 9:45 pm on Wednesday residents heard explosions and summoned the police, who subsequently found Robinson’s body with gunshot wounds.
Security guard succumbs to stab wounds
RETIREMENT, St James – Ralph Quest, a 54-year-old security guard, died in the Cornwall Regional Hospital following a stabbing incident in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to the St James police, they were called after Quest was seen running from a building at about 4:10 am on Thursday. Investigators subsequently discovered that he had been stabbed several times. The Coral Gardens police are investigating.
St Elizabeth taxi operator succumbs to injuries
PAROTTEE, St Elizabeth – Jackson Myers, a 29-year-old taxi operator of Parotee district in St Elizabeth, on Wednesday succumbed to injuries he sustained in a motor-vehicle collision the day before on High Street in Black River.
According to the St Elizabeth police, Myers had been driving a Toyota Corolla motor car at about 9:30 am, when he collided with a Ford SUV driven by 40-year-old Floyd Buchanan. Three passengers were in Buchanan’s vehicle.
They were taken to the Black River Hospital where they were treated and released. Myers, however, was admitted and later transferred to the University Hospital in Kingston where he succumbed to his injuries at about 10:00 am yesterday.
