Clarke says Jamaican society is ‘devoid of love’
ROMAN Catholic Archbishop Emeritus Egerton Clarke says the Jamaican society is devoid of love, and has denied and rejected sound values.
“Many people say that God and the church are now irrelevant. and state laws support it…” Clarke remarked.
He was speaking yesterday at a service at the Stella Maris Church, Kingston, to mark the start of National Productivity Awareness Week.
In a stirring sermon, he called on members of the society to reinstate values and seek ways to promote a just society.
“People are not seeking charity anymore, they are crying for justice,” he said.
National Productivity Awareness Week 2006 is being celebrated under the theme, “Productivity and Competitiveness for Wealth Creation”, and focuses on ways of improving productivity levels and wealth creation in Jamaica.
