$500,000 robbery in St Elizabeth
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth – Police in St Elizabeth are reporting no breakthroughs in their investigation following a $500,000 robbery at a gas station on the New Holland main road, just west of Lacovia, on Saturday.
Police say that some time after 2:00 pm, two men – one armed with a handgun and the other with a knife – walked up to the gas station and robbed attendants of $500,000 as well as their cell phones.
The gas station workers were reportedly forced to lie face down on the ground while the robbers took the cash and valuables.
A would-be customer who pulled up at a gas pump during the hold-up and a passenger were also robbed of $35,000 as well as their cellular phones.
The robbers were said to have fired several shots in the air while fleeing the scene on foot.
