Sav teenager found hanging
THE body of 18 year-old Rakeisha Spence was on Monday found hanging by a length of rope from a staircase at her home at Dalling Street in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network’s (CCN) liaison officer for Westmoreland, at about 4:30 pm, a friend went to visit Spence when the gruesome discovery was made. The police were summoned and the body cut down. It was subsequently removed to the morgue.
Man’s body found in tank
THE body of 36 year-old Calvin Linton of Glasgow district, St Ann was found in a water tank in the community on Monday.
The CCN’s liaison officer for St Ann reported that at about 8:00 am, a passerby saw the body and notified the police. It was subsequently removed for post-mortem.
Rifle, ammo seized at St John’s Road
AN AK 47 assault rifle and a number of assorted rounds of ammunition were seized by members of the Special Anti-Crime Task Force at premises on St Johns Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine on Monday.
Three men were taken into custody in connection with the seizure.
According to the CCN, between 11:00 am and 12:30 pm, an operation was carried out in the St Johns Road area when the weapon and ammunition were found at a residence in the community during a search.
The search, the police said, yielded the weapon along with 25 rounds of 7.62 cartridges, 32 rounds of 5.56 cartridges, 18 9mm cartridges and six .38 cartridges. The three men who were at the premises were taken into custody.
Mount Ogle house goes up in smoke
FIRE Monday night destroyed a four-bedroom board house in Mount Ogle district, Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew. No one was injured in the fire.
According to the police, the fire, which was seen coming from a section of the house at about 9:00 pm, quickly spread and engulfed the building.
Loss was estimated at $1.5 million.
