Two dead, one injured in Bartons shooting
THE St Catherine South Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the gun murder of two men and the injuring of another at Bartons in the parish on Sunday.
The identities of the dead men have not yet been ascertained, but injured in the shooting was a 21-year-old man of Davis in Bannister, Old Harbour.
The Constabulary Communication Network’s (CCN) liaison officer for St Catherine South reported that at about 1:45 pm gunshots were heard coming from a white Toyota Sprinter travelling along the Barton main road. Two men, the CCN said, were then thrown from the vehicle. It was subsequently discovered that they had been shot. One of the men died on the spot, while the other was admitted to hospital.
The Toyota Sprinter, the police said, was joined by a white Toyota Corolla, with both of them speeding off towards the Brown’s Hall community. Both cars were spotted by the police in Guanaboavale and during an ensuing chase the Toyota Corolla crashed into an embankment and the men escaped. The Toyota Sprinter was later found abandoned with the body of the third man aboard on a dirt track in the Spring Village area of the parish.
Taxi driver shot dead on Tavern Drive
A taxi driver was shot dead by gunmen on Tavern Drive, Kingston 6, on Sunday.
He has been identified as Christopher Wright, 34, otherwise called ‘Shabba’ of Tavern Drive, Kingston 6.
The CCN’s metro officer said about 2:45 pm Sunday Wright was driving his Toyota Camry motor car along Tavern Drive when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle. Wright ran from the vehicle and was chased and shot several times. He died on the spot.
Teenage girl found dead in open lot
THE Admiral Town police were yesterday investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 18-year-old Sashana Parish, whose body was found in an open lot on Gem Road in Kingston 13 on Sunday.
She resided at McDonald Lane, Kingston 13.
The CCN said residents made the discovery at about 12:30 and called the police, who, after examining the body, realised it had injuries to the left side of the face which was covered with masking tape. The hands were also bound with a piece of cloth.
