Deacon on sex rap back in court Friday
DONOVAN Jones, the former deacon of the Church Dayton Diamond Ridge who is implicated in the sexual assault case of a teenage girl, is to appear in the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Friday where it will be decided whether to transfer the case to the Supreme Court.
The matter will be next mentioned on the same day sentencing is set for Shamar Morgan, 18, and his 14-year-old co-offender, who both pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in the back of a van, while allegedly under the supervision of Jones, 46.
The boys were scheduled to be sentenced last week but the sentencing was rescheduled for Friday by RM Georgianna Fraser due to the absence of RM Judith Pusey, the magistrate before whom they had entered their guilty pleas.
Jones’ co-accused, James Rogers, who allegedly video-recorded the sexual assault of the young girl on several occasions, was also ordered to return to court on Friday.
