JPS gives AIDS support group $1.5 million
MONTEGO BAY, St James – The Jamaica Public Service on Saturday gave the Jamaica Aids Support (JAS) a cheque for $1.5 million to help finance its public education programme.
The money, part of the light and power company’s commitment to give the support group $5 million over a three-year period, brings to $3 million the amount handed over so far. The balance of $2 million will be handed over next year, the JPS said.
Annmarie Dobson, the group’s public education co-ordinator, who received the cheque on the organisation’s behalf, said that the money would go a far way in assisting its efforts to educate the populace about the deadly disease.
