Man facing kidnapping charge for court today
OKITO Blair, the man arrested in June for allegedly collecting ransom money from a woman for the release of her 16-year-old daughter, will appear before the Kingston Home Circuit Court today, where he will face kidnapping charges.
Blair’s case was transferred from the Gun Court to the Home
Circuit Court on Thursday, as it could not be established that Blair had a gun or was in the company of anyone who had a gun during the alleged kidnapping on the evening of June 24 in Kingston.
Blair, who is represented by attorney Michael Lorne, is charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap, stemming from allegations that he and three other men kidnapped the Kingston 13 resident at gunpoint, shoving her into a “black car” while she was walking to her mother’s house.
The victim, the police reported, was held for three days, and was allegedly raped repeatedly by her attacker.
Her attackers, the police said, called the girl’s mother, a chef, demanding $100,000 for the teenager’s release.
Arrangements, the court was told, were made for the money to be paid over on June 27, when Blair was held and arrested at the Total Gas station on Slipe Road where he had allegedly gone to pick up the ransom money.
