POLICE are now probing the circumstances surrounding the murder of former Observer driver Mark Wellington, better known as ‘Pooch’, whose bullet-riddled body was found in the trunk of his Honda motor car in Portmore, St Catherine yesterday.

The police said they were alerted by a security guard to a Honda Accord motor car which was parked in the Portmore Mall parking lot at 2:30 am yesterday. When the cops arrived they searched the vehicle and found Wellington’s body in the trunk of the car, licensed 8810 EV. Wellington was shot in the face and chest, the police said.

Detective Inspector Carl Malcolm of the Greater Portmore police told the Observer yesterday that the police suspect Wellington was killed elsewhere and his body left at the Portmore Mall parking lot.

“I don’t believe he was killed in this police division,” Inspector Malcolm said.

He went missing on Wednesday this week and a report was made to the St Andrew North police by his family on Thursday.
