Two Greater Portmore men shot dead in Vineyard Town
TWO men from Greater Portmore in St Catherine were shot dead yesterday in Vineyard Town in eastern Kingston.
The dead men have been identified as 40-year-old contractor Audley Riley, and 22-year-old Alimi Clarke, also called ‘Miguel’, both of Monza in Greater Portmore.
The police said they were summoned to a section of Vineyard Town after residents reported hearing gunshots at about 10:00 Wednesday night. The cops said they searched the community but came up empty-handed. The bodies of Riley and Clarke were, however, found at the back of a premises on Robert Crescent in the area. Both had several gunshot wounds.
The contractor, whose licensed firearm was missing, received bullet wounds to the neck and stomach.
Yesterday Riley’s relatives were in shock and were still trying to come to terms with the reality that he was dead.
“He is not mixed up in any wrongdoing so we are struggling to find a reason for this,” Riley’s grief-stricken brother told the Observer yesterday. “Him was a wild man so we are wondering if him go pan a girl move and somebody see him gun or something,” he added.
In the meantime, residents of Mountain View, a volatile community also in eastern Kingston, yesterday blocked a section of the thoroughfare to protest against what they describe as brutality by members of the security forces.
