Accountant accused of hacking wife on murder rap
MONTEGO BAY, St James – Ashton Campbell, a 42-year-old accountant accused of hacking his wife to death after beating her, was yesterday charged with murder by the Freeport police.
The dead woman has been identified as 43-year-old Carol Taylor-Campbell, unemployed of Porto Bello, St James.
The police reported that the couple had been separated for over a period of time and had a matter before the court. However, both occupied the marital home in Porto Bello.
According to officers, the accountant on Sunday reported that his estranged wife had gone missing. However, the police said they, however, became suspicious and carried out a check on his vehicle, which was allegedly found with blood stains.
Officers said Campbell allegedly led them to a primary school compound in Hanover, where the head, hands and feet of Taylor-Campbell were found in a pit latrine, tied in a bag.
Her torso was later found in an old incinerator, covered with old furniture.
The accountant was subsequently arrested.
