Five held for shooting death of Retirement four
MONTEGO BAY, St James – Five men have been held for questioning in connection with Saturday night’s shooting death of four family members and injury of three others in Retirement here in St James.
The men were being questioned for the murders of Lyris Ellis-Johnson, 43, who was killed along with her son, Curtis Wilson, 17; daughter Kaya Wilson, 18, a recent graduate of the St James High School; and stepson Troy Johnson, 15, a student of Cambridge High School.
Superintendent Warren Clarke, the commanding officer for St James, said the five men in custody were expected to be charged with four counts of murder.
“More than the five were taken into custody, but these five have been positively identified as the men who committed the gruesome act Saturday night,” said the police superintendent.
The police said that acting upon intelligence, they intercepted a bus loaded with Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters returning from the party’s 63rd annual general conference in Kingston and the five suspects were apprehended.
