Cops kill man in Torrington Park shoot-out
A man, who the police said was among a group of men who fired on officers in the volatile Torrington Park area of Kingston on Tuesday, was cut down during a gunfight with the cops.
Another man, who was also said to be among the group, was held by officers.
The dead man, whose name was not ascertained by the police, is believed to be in the early 20s, is of dark complexion, slim built, about 175 centimetres tall and was clad in a blue jeans pants and red T-shirt.
The identity of the other man is being withheld pending an identification parade.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that members of a police party from Mobile Reserve seized a Beretta 9mm pistol serial # BER461572, loaded with 15 rounds, from the injured man.
The CCN said, too, that following an extensive search two more guns – an AK 47 assault rifle, serial # 84MC1305, with 15 rounds of 7.62 bullets, and a Smith and Wesson pistol, serial # PBC8342, with nine rounds – were seized after the shooting.
