Elderly Mandeville couple missing
Police were last night searching for Mandeville businessman Richard Lyn, 75 and his wife Julia, 71 after they were apparently kidnapped from their home at 14 Battersea Avenue, Ingleside in the parish.
The Mandeville police report that the Lyns were last seen at their home at about 5:30 pm on Saturday. Richard Lyn, the cops said, had made arrangements for a 9:00 am tee off for a round of golf yesterday morning, while his wife was scheduled to attend church.
When members of Lyn’s golf party did not see him, they made several calls to his house. After not getting an answer, they called a neighbour, who has a key to the Lyns’ home.
Watson, the police said, went to investigate and noticed that the couple’s two motor vehicles – a grey Toyota Rav 4 registered 2694 ES and a grey Toyota Corolla station wagon licensed 5540 EU – were not in the garage.
She called the police who, on entering the house, found the master bedroom ransacked and what appeared to be bloodstains on the floor of the living room. Several large appliances were also missing from the home, which showed signs of a forced entry.
