2 die in Clarendon accident
Twenty-six year-old Marlon Mullings (far right), and Albertha Richards, 46, higgler, both from Warwick district, Manchester died yesterday when this Toyota pick-up in which they were travelling collided with this IGL International truck at 19 Miles, Sandy Bay, Clarendon at about 2:00 pm.
Mullings, who was driving the pick-up, died on the spot, while Richards was pronounced dead at hospital. Police said two other passengers in the pick-up – Leroy Porter, 45 and Edlyn Ashley, also of Warwick – were admitted to hospital in critical condition.
The four were on their way from Kingston when the accident occurred.
Mullings had to be cut from the pick-up by firefighters.
This was the second fatal accident in Clarendon in three days. On Sunday, 22 year-old Jhodiann Adella Bennett died on the Osborne Store main road in Clarendon after the Toyota Corolla she was driving collided with a Toyota Hiace bus at approximately 8:15 am. Bennett, who lived at Mosquito Valley, Red Hills, St Andrew, was an entertainment co-ordinator at the RIU hotel in Negril. (Photos: Llewellyn Wynter)
