Renowned Nigerian novelist reads in Jamaica
ACCLAIMED Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe will read from his work on January 4 at 4:00 pm at the Undercroft at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
The event is being undertaken through the collaborative efforts of the university’s Department of Literatures in English and the Jamaica National Bicentenary Committee.
A prolific novelist, poet and essayist, Chinua Achebe is best known for the canonical texts Things Fall Apart (1958), No Longer at Ease (1960), Arrow of God (1964), A Man of the People (1966) and Anthills of the Savannah (1987).
The professor, who is scheduled to address the January 2 cultural rally at Emancipation Park, will read from Things Fall Apart, as well as from his poetry, before taking questions from the audience. There will also be a book-signing session.
