Rodney Beckles charged with murder
Twenty-one year-old Rodney Beckles, son of principal of the UWI’s Cave Hill campus, Professor Hillary Beckles, was slapped with a murder charge yesterday in relation to the stabbing death of 28 year-old Khalil Campbell.
The incident occurred on Wednesday after the two reportedly had an argument over marijuana at a premises off Old Hope Road.
Campbell was stabbed more than 20 times during the altercation and was taken to hospital where he died several hours later.
Beckles has been in custody since Wednesday and will appear in court this week to answer the charge.
Police say initial reports suggest that Campbell and Beckles were friends and had numerous arguments over ganja before the incident occurred.
