63-year-old man dies in 7-vehicle accident
SIXTY-three-year-old Roy Lee Armstrong was pronounced dead at hospital yesterday after a seven-vehicle crash in Portmore, St Catherine, which left at least eight other people nursing injuries.
Reports from the police’s information arm, the Constabulary Communication Network, are that at about 4:30 pm, a fire truck responding to a bush fire in Braeton, collided with a Toyota Corolla motorcar, then got out of control hitting at least three other vehicles before finally landing on top of the car which Armstrong was driving. The CCN’s Janet Williams said Armstrong, a returning resident of 4 West, Greater Portmore, was pinned down in the vehicle. She said blood was seen spewing from his ears and nose. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Up to press time, there was no word on the condition of the seven firefighters who were aboard the truck at the time of the accident.
