Man held with ganja to be sentenced next Friday
MONTEGO BAY- Steve Cooper, a St Ann man who now resides in New York in the United States, pleaded guilty in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrates Court to trying to export nearly 45lbs of ganja in October last year.
Cooper was arrested at the Sangster International Airport on October 4 after police sniffer dogs alerted their handlers to contraband in his luggage. When the two bags he had checked in were searched, compressed ganja weighing 44lbs 13.7 ounces was found concealed among coffee and chocolate.
Cooper was scheduled to leave the island on Air Jamaica flight 011 to New York.
He was remanded in police custody and will be sentenced next Friday.
