Basil and Imani say ‘I Do’
The bride, Grace Imani Duncan, was stunning in an ivory lace mermaid strapless Henry Roth gown. The groom, Basil Llewelyn M’Wallimu Burnett Waite, suave in Armani. The bride’s father – noted politician and dental surgeon Dr D K Duncan – decided against wearing a tie.
Tradition and non-tradition worked side by side at the University Chapel (Mona) yesterday as the couple, assisted by Rev. Jeffery McKenzie and in the presence of family, former prime minister P J Patterson, senior members of the People’s National Party (PNP), commerce and industry leaders and close friends, exchanged wedding vows.
The reception followed at ‘Far Away’ Stony Hill. The couple spent their first night as husband and wife in the opulent Terra Nova Suite at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel.
From there they’ll fly off to St Lucia where they’ll enjoy a week at Ladera, famed for its extraordinary twin pointed peaks and favoured by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey. A second honeymoon, this time to Africa, is slated for mid-year. (See Monday’s VOWS for full details).
