Three charged in Mandeville couple case remanded
THREE people charged in connection with the abduction, robbery and murder of elderly Manchester couple Richard and Julia Lyn were remanded into custody until February 7, when they appeared in the Mandeville Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Lennox ‘Son Son’ Swaby and Calvin ‘Kevin’ Powell, are facing murder, burglary and robbery charges, while Swaby’s mother, 50-year-old June White has been charged with receiving stolen goods.
Swaby and Powell were on Wednesday slapped with an additional count of housebreaking and larceny and receiving stolen property.
Swaby and his mother have also been charged with illegal possession of ammunition. A fourth man, Dwayne Reid, who has been charged with receiving stolen goods in the same case, did not appear in court on Wednesday.
The Lyns were abducted and robbed on December 10, 2006 and their rotting remains were found three weeks later in the Martin’s Hill dump in Manchester. Their remains have since been handed over to relatives.
