EC appoints new Head of Delegation to Jamaica
Jamaica’s governor-general, Professor Kenneth Hall, yesterday morning received Marco Mazzocchi-Alemanni, the new Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Jamaica, who presented his Letters of Credentials during a ceremony at King’s House.
Ambassador Mazzocchi-Alemanni is the seventh EC envoy to be posted to Jamaica since the European Commission opened offices here in 1976.
A European career diplomat, Ambassador Mazzocchi-Alemanni headed several units within the European Commission’s Europe Aid Co-operation Office prior to his appointment to Jamaica.
He previously headed the Delegation of the European Commission to several African and Arab countries and was Cabinet advisor in Jacques Delors’ European Commission.
A Fulbright (Phd) fellow, Ambassador Mazzocchi-Alemanni is a social scientist and economist.
An Italian by nationality, he is married to Fiela Mazzocchi-Alemanni, who will accompany him during his tour of duty in Jamaica.
