The 411 on Laurent Perrier
MARK Twain said “to get the full value of joy, you must have someone to divide it with.” The same can be said for champagne, especially if it is Laurent Perrier. And while it may not be the most well-known champagne to Jamaicans, the low-key subtlety only adds to the classic elegance synonymous with Laurent Perrier.
Founded in 1812, Laurent Perrier has remained one of the most esteemed champagne brands for nearly 200 years. Its portfolio is rich and distinguished with a variety of champagnes to suit all palates and every occasion.
Distributed in Jamaica by Caribbean Producers Jamaica Ltd, (CPJ) Laurent Perrier can now be widely found across the island. CPJ CEO Mark Hart explains that although the champagne is not as widely recognised in Jamaica – because it seems we are more of a Möet & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot market – its popularity does seem to be growing.
Four champagnes in the Laurent Perrier line are available in Jamaica. The Brut L-P – which accompanied lunch at Dragon Court – is known for its perfect balance of subtle citrus aroma and delicate nose. It is in fact one of the lighter options, and with the fine, persistent bubbles that are notably Laurent Perrier, it is a champagne that goes well with all food. Also available are the Grand Siècle, one of Laurent Perrier’s prestige cuvées; the Brut Millésimé 1996 vintage and perhaps one of the most popular, the Cuvée Rosé Brut.
