Jampro now to be known as Jamaica Trade and Invest
JAMPRO, the government trade, investments and promotions arm, is to be re-christened Jamaica Trade and Invest.
Minister of Information Donald Buchanan told yesterday’s post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House that despite the name change the public corporation will continue with the acronym Jampro as well as use the current logo.
He said that the new name is consistent with government’s intention to focus on the business promotion aspect of its operations.
“Whereas Jampro depicts an overall picture of Jamaica’s many-faceted attractions, the question of dealing directly with attracting overseas investments in our various areas of opportunity is intended to receive greater focus by this change,” Buchanan said.
Jampro, the government agency mandated to promote and facilitate trade, investments and promotions and to encourage and support the export of Jamaican products, is a vital source for trade-related information. The agency is responsible for registering export and textile certificates via the Exporter Registration System.
