Several items banned from Cricket World Cup matches
CRICKET fans who have, over the years, been able to take their alcoholic beverages, large radios, large umbrellas and several other items to local matches will now find that a number of these items are now banned and will not be permitted when entering Sabina Park and the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium for World Cup matches.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), the police’s information arm, listed the banned items as alcohol, glass, tins, plastic bottles, explosives, firearms, fireworks, flag poles, illegal drugs, incendiary devices, knives, mace, pepper spray and megaphones.
However, the report said some of the items may be allowed inside Sabina Park and the Trelawny Stadium under certain conditions.
Aerosol cans and glass containers containing medication, insect repellent or deodorant will be allowed. Coolers, smaller than 12 inches wide, long and deep and lunch boxes measuring 12 inches by 24 inches will also be allowed.
Cricket patrons will also be allowed to carry transistor radios with an earpiece and small folding umbrellas.
At the same time, the police said banners and flags must not be big enough to restrict the view of other patrons and should not contain offensive material or conflict with the rights of the sponsors of the event.
Concessionaires, in the meantime, have been advised to abide by the special delivery schedules which have been put in place for Cricket World Cup.
Entry will be allowed between 10:00 am and noon and 2:45 pm and 4:15 pm on match days.
