The ‘penny bun’ gets the cheese
TWENTY-FIVE years ago, Honey Bun company directors Michelle and Herbert Chong tied the knot and launched their first honey bun (called honey bun because they used honey in lieu of sugar). A quarter-century later, the once small retail bakery located at Spanish Court is a manufacturing giant turning out over one million products monthly – supplying the entire island of Jamaica with freshly baked products on a daily basis.
Now all set for HACCP certification (International Food Safety), the company continues to set the pace in the baking industry.
Honey Bun was the first to introduce the single packed donut, the cheese bread, the bran raisin bread and the cinnamon roll. As we head towards Easter, and 25 years of baking and marital bliss, the baking innovators have launched the first ever Cheese Bun. You heard us – the popular penny bun, commonly referred to as spice bun, with cheese already inside – conveniently single packaged is Jamaica’s favourite bun and cheese made easy.
