Megafone customers angry
Scores of disgruntled customers of the latest telecommunication entrant, Megafone, came to near riot outside the firm’s King’s Plaza office on Constant Spring Road Thursday, as they voiced their disgust over what they said was “poor service” from the three-month-old company.
Even during the rain, customers kept swamping the small office, forcing the security guard to lock the doors as tempers flared and customers hurled expletives at the store manager.
The customers, some of whom were there to purchase phone cards and phones, had to wait for hours before being able to enter the small store. They were further aggravated when the security guard manning the door announced that the system had broken down.
“I bought a phone on the third of the month and only made three calls and they tell me that my subscription is up. “All they are interested in is grabbing your damn money and are not listening,” a customer complained to the Observer before storming off.
Another unsatisfied customer, who gave his name as Leighton, said: “I bought a phone that was damaged. I brought it back and they told me to come back. Every time I come back, I’m unable to get into the store. It makes no sense!”
Leighton then stuck his head inside the store and shouted: “You guys have no respect for your customers – no respect!”
Said another customer: “I have never come here and got through. Every time I come here there always seem to be new customers and half of them have a complaint.”
Some time later, the security instructed the customers bundled at the door: “If you have a phone charging, join the line; if you are dropping off a phone; join the line; if you’re buying a phone card, join the line.”
Attempts to reach the store manager proved futile, as the security guard said that he was not available and calls to the office went unanswered.
