Autopsy on Irish cricket fan to be done today
A post-mortem on the body of 68-year-old Robert Carr, a supporter of the Ireland cricket team who was on Tuesday found unconscious in his room at the Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort and Spa, is scheduled for today the police say.
Carr, who was pronounced dead on arrival at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital, was in the island for Cricket World Cup 2007.
According to reports from the St Ann’s Bay police and a statement issued by the Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort and Spa, the head teacher from North Ireland retired for bed with his wife shortly after 11:00 pm on Tuesday. Carr’s wife reportedly awoke some time between 6:30 am and 7:00 am yesterday and discovered that he was unconscious. She contacted the hotel’s nurse, who unsuccessfully administered CPR and oxygen on Carr. Paramedics who were called to the scene took Carr to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The police told the Observer that Carr had reportedly complained of chest pains before retiring to bed on Tuesday.
