Cops take out ‘Cheese Trix’ in pre-dawn ‘gun battle’
Christopher ‘Cheese Trix’ Williams, the man police alleged was responsible for the murder of Special Constable Charles Gordon, and the quadruple murder in Arnett Gardens in Kingston last Thursday, was killed by the police yesterday morning.
Police said they recovered a .50 Desert Eagle semi-automatic pistol from Williams’ body following a pre-dawn ‘gun battle’ along the Mandela Highway. Two other men travelling with Williams, 24, who was reputed to be a strongman in the volatile Arnett Gardens community, managed to elude the police.
The Constabulary Communication Network said a police team was on an operation on Spanish Town Road at about 4:45, when a Toyota Corolla motorcar with three men aboard ignored their request to stop.
The police gave pursuit and intercepted the vehicle along the Mandela Highway not far from the toll road. The men then alighted from the vehicle and opened fire, police said.
The cops returned the fire, fatally hitting Williams who was declared dead at the Kingston Public Hospital. The other men escaped in the vehicle.
The once elusive Williams was fingered as the man who shot and killed Constable Gordon on the morning of January 5, while he conducted a traffic check at the busy intersection of Barry and King streets in downtown Kingston. Gordon died 12 days after the attack.
A one million-dollar reward was posted for information leading to Williams’ capture.
Williams was also named by the police as the mastermind behind the early morning home-invasion murder of Arnett Gardens residents Alfred Grant, 57, and his 21-year-old daughter Shakira. While making their escape along West Avenue in Arnett Gardens, the gunmen shot and killed Natasia Gordon, of West Road, and Nashan Bryan, of Rockfort, Kingston, who were on a motorbike heading out of the community.
