Entertainment writer found dead
THE body of musical director and entertainment writer Justin Leo Whyte was found with a gunshot wound to the head at his Mona, St Andrew home yesterday afternoon, after neighbours reported a foul odour coming from the house.
Whyte, a one-time director of the award-winning Glenmuir High School choir, was in his 50s.
“It would appear that some kind of robbery was involved, because his car was missing, as well as some other items,” Inspector Wesley Christie of the Matilda’s Corner Police Station said yesterday.
“That’s what we have so far, that’s what we’re working with,” Christie said.
Yesterday, Byron Buckley, acting editor-in-chief at the Gleaner, where Whyte was a features writer and then entertainment editor, expressed hope that Whyte’s murderer/s would be brought to justice.
“News of his violent death has saddened us as his former colleagues,” Buckley said. “And we only hope that the police will be able to solve one more crime.”
