Cops will handcuff ‘Clansman’ leader on arrival
The Jamaican police are anxiously awaiting the deportation from the United States of Tesha Miller, 28, current leader of the Spanish Town-based Clansman gang, who faces several charges of murder and shooting in the St Catherine North police division.
“Some people are worried about gang problems when he lands but we are not worried about that. We are going to arrest him as soon as he lands,” said Inspector Steve Brown, spokesman for Operation Kingfish.
“As soon as he lands, before he comes off the aeroplane, we are going to handcuff him and take him into custody,” Brown said of Miller who allegedly took control of the gang after the death of longtime leader, Donovan ‘Bulbie’ Bennett in October 2005.
Brown also told the Observer that Operation Kingfish detectives received information from their law enforcement colleagues in the United States that Miller had been allegedly orchestrating Clansman gang affairs from the United States.
He was nabbed by overseas officers earlier this year on gun-related charges, but Brown declined to discuss details of his arrest.
Brown was also unable to say when Miller would be deported back to Jamaica or when he initially fled to the United States. He noted, however, that Miller would also be slapped with a charge of absconding bail in connection with an offence he allegedly committed before fleeing to the US.
