Woman injured in three-vehicle crash
A female motorist was injured in a three-vehicle collision along Old Hope Road during the evening rush hour on Thursday.
According to the police, the accident was caused by a robot taxi operator who was driving recklessly along the busy thoroughfare.
The woman was driving her red Suzuki Swift towards Papine when a white Toyota Corolla travelling in the opposite direction crashed into her vehicle in the vicinity of The Church of St Margaret, according to Craig Roberts, who said he was a passenger in the Swift.
He said the force of the collision sent the Swift crashing into a Mitsubishi motor car.
The Corolla then crashed into a metal utility pole, knocking it to the ground before coming to a halt.
The driver, who the Matilda’s Corner police believed was operating an illegal taxi from Papine to Half-Way-Tree, is said to have jumped into a black Nissan Sunny which sped off immediately after the accident.
The police said that the taxi operator was earlier observed “driving recklessly” after leaving Papine.
