Opal Beharie to replace Ian Reid at St James council
MONTEGO BAY, St James – Secretary/manager at the St Elizabeth Parish Council, Opal Beharie will assume responsibility in that position at the St James Parish Council on July 1.
She will replace Ian Reid, who last week announced that he would be leaving the council at the end of June to venture into private business.
Chairman of the St Elizabeth Parish Council Franklyn Witter said yesterday that he was advised by the Public Services Commission last week, that Beharie would be transferred to St James.
He added that director of finance at the St Elizabeth Parish Council, Gerald Lee, will be installed as the interim secretary/manager when Beharie vacates the post in July.
Beharie, a civil servant for 33 years, assumed the responsibility of secretary/manager at the St Elizabeth Parish Council in May 2000, after serving in the capacity of director of finance at the Westmoreland Parish Council for a number of years.
