Woman allows 14-y-o daughter to have sex with man; girl now pregnant
SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine – A mother who admitted in court to giving consent to her 14-year-old daughter to have sexual relations with a 25-year-old man in return for money, was remanded in custody when she appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
The woman who has been charged with aiding and abetting the carnal abuse of her daughter, was rapped by the resident magistrate who chided her for leading the child into a life of destruction by allowing her to perform sexual favours for economic gains.
Her daughter, who is eight months pregnant, was remanded to a place of safety and both are to return to court on July 3.
The mother, a domestic helper of Embly District in Kitson Town, St Catherine, told the court that she allowed her underage daughter to have sex with the man because she was attending school and there no money to purchase uniform and books for the child.
“I know that she was having sex, but him come to me and talk to me and I accept his condition to help her. So I say all right, your honour,” the woman told the court.
When Errar-Gayle enquired if she had any idea that her daughter could be infected by a sexually transmitted disease, the woman said she had warned her daughter not to get pregnant and promised to take her to the clinic for an injection to prevent pregnancy, but she did not get around to it. She said that when she discovered her daughter was pregnant she reported the matter to the police.
