PM to address ILO conference this week
PRIME Minister Portia Simpson Miller is scheduled to address this week’s 96th Session of the Conference of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on the ‘Decent Work Agenda’ and its contribution to social and economic development within the context of globalisation.
The ILO’s conference will also discuss issues pertaining to discrimination at the workplace as a follow-up to the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work as well as mechanisms for strengthening the ILO’s capacity to assist its members achieve their development objectives.
Simpson Miller, who left the island last Friday to attend the conference in Geneva, Switzerland, returns to Jamaica on Thursday.
During her absence Dr Peter Phillips, the security minister, will be in charge of the Government.
