Man’s hand severed in explosion
SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland – A man from the section of this community known as Russia was hospitalised yesterday after one of his hands was severed when he ignited an explosive device.
The police reported that the man, Jason Grant, a 19-year-old unemployed, was seriously injured when the explosive device exploded and ripped off his left hand from the elbow.
It was not clear last night what type of device the young man had ignited, and the Savanna-la-Mar CIB, who are conducting investigation into the incident, said they had not recovered any fragment from the device.
