Two guns found in bag of rice
CUSTOMS officials yesterday discovered two guns hidden in a bag of rice in a barrel at a warehouse at the port in Kingston.
According to Patricka Chambers, Jamaica Customs spokeswoman, officers from her department came across the barrel at approximately 10:00 am yesterday during a routine examination at a warehouse on the port.
The Customs Department said during the search of the barrel two dismantled guns – a shotgun and an AK47 – were found in a large bag of rice. The point of origin of the barrel was listed as New York, United States.
The police’s Organised Crime Division was subsequently called in to investigate the matter.
